I use Berkley Vanish and twice now on carolina rigs, its snaps on the cast, but when I look at the end where it broke, its looks split. Could it just be the line going bad or someone else told me not to tie a Palomar knot with fluorocarbon line and I have been. Could this be it?

I fish using braid and the a flourocarbon leader. I tie the leader on using a uni to uni knot. This knot will also work on mono to flouro. it passes through the guides easy. This could be where your trouble is now. When the knot is passing thru the guide on the tip of the rod. Might try the uni to uni. It does not really sound like the line is bad. Just curious how old is the like you are using?

I tried P-line back in the day and didn't like it. It seemed too fragile/brittle. That's the only fluro I've tried. Went back to regular ol Trilene with a braided leader (if fishing saltwater). I like berkly's braided with a mono leader but it's just too dang expensive too keep 4 rigs spooled with this stuff. I find it way more economical to buy a 3000 yd spool of mono and restring every few trips depending on how long they sit between trips.

Vanish is JUNK. I tried it with the exact results. The only fluorocarbon lines I'll use is Seagur and Bass Pro Shops Extream. Be careful with any fluoros though. It has a shelf life. I recomend ordering direct from the manufacture or from a place that does a lot of buisness. Don't leave it out in the sun and change it often. good luck!
