    Blood Tracking Trainer Question

Are there blood dog trainers out there take in dogs and train them how to track? My dad got a blue lacy pup for Christmas and is wondering if he can take his dog to a professional for training. If so, do you have any suggestions for one? Thanks in advance.

i'm not aware of any, but kinda new to the world of tracking dogs. My 2 cents (if its even worth that) is that you will have a better dog and stronger bond if he trains it himself.

Doesn't take too long, 10-15 mins a day to start out will give the dog a great foundation. Then longer tracks can take a couple of hours to lay and then run, but that can be done on weekends or days off...

again just my 2 cents. trained my dog, and of all the training we did, of pointing, retrieving, obedience and tracking, the tracking has built a stronger relationship and level of trust between us.

Where is he located? I would be happy to help him get started.

Training a blood dog is not anything like training a bird dog. It is more about developing trust in your dog adn learning to read your dog more than anyhting. Once the dog knows what his job is he or she will train themselves. Working live animals at the end of a track is just something they will experience adn either live and learn or die trying.

It is more handler training than dog training if you ask my opinion.
