I think you may be the family he needs right now. Family is not about blood. Its about who you have a connection with.

      God's work is wonderful!

Jerome may never accept anyone.....it's between him and God but......it's wonderful to see the love and compassion others have toward Jerome.

Mental illness, Retardation & Alzheimer's....painful for those who love, care and are normal... towards those afflicted but.....they are truly God's children. Even though we want them to have the best of everything.....there are times it's literally impossible to change things as they are. This is where the Love and Compassion from us...the normal ones...comes to the surface. Through them...we learn a great deal about ourselves....individually and collectively as a society.

Howard - Thank you for sharing this! I have a mentally handicapped sister......I also have a son that suffers from Seizures and that son is very unpredictable in his outlook to many things he previously held solidly. Prayers, love and compassion.....is the key to acceptance for us...the normal.

Lean into the light.....the answer is there.

      GOD BLESS!

All this because a young boy wanted to help someone in need. Great job raising your kid and teaching him values. Thats a great story wish I knew what to tell you.
