    Ammo Recommendation

I have a chance to go on a Buffalo Hunt and was thinking of using my 30-06.
Any recommendations on a ammo load? What grain would you use?
I do not have any options on a larger caliber, so it is either the Ol' Trusty '06 or stci and string. I would love to use the bow, but I have limited time to get it done and have to try to make it a quick trip.

Let me know your thoughts... I currently shoot 150 grain Core Locts and I am not sure if that will get it done or not..

Federal Premium 180 grain Barnes TSX bullet. They cost round S46 per 20

Read about the Barnes triple shock bullet

180gr. Nosler Partition comes to mind. Barnes X as well.

Another choice is a 220 grain bullet.

With the right shot placement any of them will get the job done.

I agree with above, usually the 06 doesn't handle bullets above 180 as well. The partition or any of the new copper solids will work fine with the Barnes having the most history.

                  Good luck.

                    Thanks for the input.
Anyone else want to offer anything? I may take the bow and have the rifle as a back up.. Buffalo with a Bow would be GREAT..

                      X a bunch

The TSX will retain nearly 100% of its weight and penetrate deeper than anything else. These are all I load for some of my friends that hunt in Africa where bullet performance is an absolute must.

                          180 grain Barnes TSX.

Personally I wouldn't use my bow on my first hunt for an animal that large that cost that much to hunt.

                          Good luck to you.

Barnes tsx is a great choice for large tough game, Federal offers them factory loaded and I know Barnes just released their own factory loads
