i bow hunted for one year before i moved away from the family land and passed on the most perfect 6 yard shot on a big bodied, small horned 6 pointer (was drawn on him but had seen an absolute monster come through the night before when i wasn't sitting there, and decided to just prove that i could get drawn on this deer from 6 yards away at eye level). since then, i haven't bow hunted for deer yet so i'm regretting not taking that shot when i had the chance.
However, i have been for bear for four years. the first year consisted of a four day hunt: 1. saw my first bear, 2. saw a big bear but didn't draw for fear of being spotted, 3. drew on bear from previous night but rushed the shot like an idiot shooting his bow at anything alive for the first time, and 4. making a good shot on a nice bear and tracking it in the rain, uphill for a mile, until just before dark (probably a good thing i quit looking as i was maybe 30 feet from the opening of a cave where the bear had likely gone and all i had was my bow).
Years 2 and 3 consisted of not even a sighting of a bear (other than other people's harvests).
Year 4 was this year - sat through a couple nights of nothing and had the pleasure of harvesting the one in my avatar. Not sure if anything has made me so happy in an incredibly long time!
Moral of the story: don't give up! change locations, change tactics, try new things...but don't give up!

I haven't shot a buck in 3 years, but not because of the lack of opportunity. Generally will pass anything 150" or less, so that leaves just a couple bucks on the place that I'm actually hunting each season. I could shoot "a" buck pretty much every time out, but there's just no excitement in it for me unless it's of the caliber of deer I already have on the wall. It's a one buck county so I pass the mature culls as well until the last day, so I generally don't kill one and I'm fine with that. I'm content to whack does and use our MLD permits up until one of the bucks I'm looking for makes a mistake and comes in range.

I just broke a 6 year drought.
And I've hunted hard too. (Mexico, South Texas & the Hill country)
I was holding out to kill a 150" or better buck on a reasonably priced low fenced lease.
I've killed lots of does, hogs, a bobcat, several coyotes and rattlesnakes with my bow. Just no P&Y buck.
Hang in there!
