    New Bow, which one?

After a year of shoulder rehab, due to surgery from a fall from a stand, I am finally in the market for a new bow. I havent shot in a little over a year and was wanting some recommendations from the braintrust. I did hunt this year with a xbow and had fun but it is not near the same. So post up your suggestions on the new bow. Price is really not a determining factor. I just need a few different suggestions to go shoot.

    Thanks.

Mathews Monster 7.0 (or MR7 for 2011). I have also shot the 2010 Mathews Z7 that was really smooth.

Consider a 60# with a easy cam and turn it down to 50 to not stress your shoulder initially. 60# will kill mist anything on Tx. You can always upgrade bow or limbs to 70 if you need to later.

      Glad you're able to shoot.

I would try the Destroyers, Assassin, Elites, and Hoyt CRX.

I have traded in the Mathews Switchback and gone with Elite and lowered my draw weight limbs from 60-70 to 50-60 with the smooth elite draw I like it much better, just my .02

Just bought a Destroyer because they where sold out of Z7s. It has grown on me and it has already proved itself. I really liked both

I'm with Bill . I would get a 60 # peak weight bow . With modern compounds this is more than enough to kill most any animal in North America including an Elk or Buffalo with the right arrow and broadhead selection .

I would lean toward a smooth drawing bow .

                          Hoyt line Rampage

                          Axle-to-Axle: 34"
                          FPS ....306 remember this is a 350 gr arrow at 70 # 30" draw the XT IBO's @ 323
                          Brace Height: 7"
Mass Weight: 4.2lbs most places retails for about $599.00

Carbon Element super sweet but expensive

                          Axle-to-Axle: 32"
                          FPS 323
                          Brace Height: 7"
Mass Weight: 3.6lbs retails for around 1100.00 plus awesome bow !

Bowtech my favorite is Destroyer hands down .

                          Desroyer 350

                          Brace Height 6"
                          IBO Speed 342 - 350 fps @ 30" 70 pounds 350gr arrow
                          Axle to Axle 32 3/8"
                          Draw Length 25 - 30"
                          Effective Let-Off 80%
                          Draw Weight 50, 60, 70 Both 340 & 350 retail for around $ 839.00

Destroyer 340 my personal preference because of longer brace height .

                          Brace Height 7"
                          IBO Speed 332 - 340 fps
                          Axle to Axle 32 3/8"
                          Draw Length 26 - 31"
                          Effective Let-Off 80%
                          Draw Weight 50, 60, 70

Destroyer IMO is the best bow Bowtech had built to date !

                          Mathews

I would look hard at the EZ7 because of its smoothness . I haven't shot this one yet but am very familiar with the DXT cam and the Z7 grid lock riser .

                          EZ7 specs

IBO Rating Up to 321 fps
                          Axle-to-Axle 32"
                          Brace Height 7"
                          Draw Weight 40, 50, 60, 65, 70 lbs
                          Bow Weight 4.25** Let-off80%
                          Draw Lengths 24" - 30"
                          Half Sizes 24.5" - 29.5" gonna retail for around ? $900.00 just a guess .

I have shot all the above with the exception to the EZ7 which should be arriving in about 2 weeks according to my rep . All are fantastic bows . I'm sure the Mathews will be the slowest but it will also be the easiest to draw and maybe the quietest ? Time will tell . Good luck on you hunt for your bow ........... Richard

Boys he's in Longview 15 miles from me.

He will get to test the new SX-1 from Strother in a couple weeks if he can wait that long. Smooth or fast cams.
