    Need new binos

Pushed my 20 yr old Russian surplus binos off my workbench last night. Little pieces everywhere, so I guess I need new ones. I guess I can't complain too much, they outlasted the country that produced them.

Any opinions on decent binos in the $200 range? Is Vortex worth a look? I was looking at these: http://www.vortexoptics.com/binoculars/view/89 in particular.

Can I get decent optics for $200?

I believe we have a Vortex dealer on TBH (maybe arrowsmith?). It seems they got good reviews and I will be looking at Vortex when I am ready to purchase some new binos.

Check out the Nikons, best glass for the money. There are others but I have had good luck with Nikon optics and their customer service is suppose to be great. Never had to use them so far.

Had good luck with the Nikons I just can't see spending alot of money when I drop'em like you did. One day I hit the brakes hard on the four wheeler and my Nikons passed me up when they flew off, they still work just fine.

I have a pair of 12x50 Nikons which aren't bowhunting binos but they are nice. Bought them for sitting box blinds before I started bowhunting. I wanted a smaller pair to use when bowhunting and bought a set of Vortex Sidewinders from arrowsmith and was pleasantly surprised at the clarity and light gathering ability of the Vortex binos. I don't think you can go wrong with the Vortex at all.

I've got a pair of Nikon 10X50 that I like really well. Some will say that they are a little bulky for bowhunting.

I also vote for the Nikons. I have the Monarch 8x42 ATB's. Best binocular I've ever owned. I think I bought mine on line for about $240 w/free shipping and NO tax.

Campmor.com usually has some good deals.

Send Mike (Arrowsmith) an e-mail and he will enlighten you about the Vortex. He used mySidewinders to hunt last week-end, they are smaller than his (Vultures) but vey clear, allowing you to see deep into the woods. Mike will be home from work by 6 Tracy

I have a good pair I'll sell you if you'd like. These are Tasco EXP binoculars that were made just before they were bought out by Bushnell. These were Tasco's high end binos. I paid over $150 for them. Would sell for $75.

I really like my Leupold Wind Rivers. I think they are around $250.

I've got the Leupold 10 x 50 Olympics. I think they're around the 350-400 range but I got them as a gift, awesome gift!!!

You definitely need to look into the Vortex line of optics. For the price you are looking at I would recommend the Sidewinders. I have bought both the 8x and 10x and like them. My main pair of binos are these Vortex Razors in 8x42.Click image for larger version
