Stoney LaRue is probably one of the better guitar pickers out there. I think he is so under rated as far as his raw talent goes. Not the best voalist for sure but neither is Willy and yet he is very popular and sucessful, I really like watching artist in small venues where it is up close and prsonal. I say

I love Stoneys style and his voice... Here is a guy you should watch when it comes to pickin. Someone asked Chet Atkins what it was liked to be the best picker in Nashville. Chet answered well I dont know. Have you watched Doyle Dykes left hand lately. Enjoy and Merry Christmas..

I had the privelage of going to school at Oklahoma State when Stoney was just starting out, we had many nights after the bar of sitting around the living room singing and pickin with him and he even played at my wedding. He has come along way from those days and I'm proud of him for doing so well.

You can't be serious. He is a good guitar player NOT one of the better guitar players out there. Don't get me wrong either I love, Stoney but lets be honest he is far from one of the better guitar players out there. I could list 100 better guitar players(and no I'm not going to waste my time). If you want an unknown based out of here in Texas look up Monte Montgomery. I see the OP lives in Dallas and Monte plays at Love and War in Grapevine on Dec. 31st. IF not him then Eric Johnson or Charlie Sexton.
