I guess it is just an individual choice. Are you willing to offend another person just to show off your harvest or not?

Great Britain banned fox hunting by a popular vote at the ballot box
Michigan banned dove hunting by a popular vote at the ballot box
California banned cougar hunting by a popular vote at the ballot box
And don't forget, that even when these issues do not come up for a popular vote...people still vote to put people into office that make these decisions or that hire people to make these decisions. Anybody been red snapper fishing this month?
One could theorize that tailgate displays etc. do not do much for us as sportsmen who want to see our way of life continue.
Think that your right to hunt is absolute? Ask someone from Michigan or California. Think that "this could never happen in Texas"? Better think again, because the anti-groups are working every single day with lobbyists etc. to try to find a way to end it all at the state and national level. Know where their funding comes from? Maybe from those who were not offended by hunting until they saw your "hero" display.
There are enough antihunters out there as it is, why do things that might create more of them?
Just sayin'.

I wouldn't do it, but that is just me. Nothing to do with ethics. I really dont care what a stranger driving down the road has killed, and because of that mindset, I guess i figure they dont care what I killed. But by the responses, I am obviously wrong....lol But I still wouldnt do it. I like seeing what my buddies have killed and enjoying it with them, but that is for us, not everyone driving down the road.
I am not offended by it, but I am sure some are, and I see no benefit in that either.

He use to say, No need to kick a resting bee hive. I guess he was referring to the anti-hunters.
Just because we have the rights to do something does not make it the best choice in all cases.
I have no proplem with someone who does it. I just try not to show any game and I hope their choice do show off game does not affect me in the future.

OOE,
I think the point you make is valid.
I hate that our culture has changed to such a degree that we have to be extra thoughtful and sensitive to how others will perceive what we as hunters do. But it's an inarguable reality that things have changed and consequently, I think it's easy enough to put a cover of some sort over the dead animals so as to not push the non-hunters who are sitting on the fence over to the hater side.

I still would be afraid of them falling out on the highway and would pack them better.

I came to find out that his teacher put this idea in his head.
Politically correct is wrong.

So what is the appropriate etiquette now in this politically correct day and age? If a non-hunting guest comes to your house (realtor, salesman, girl scout cookie seller, EMS attendant, sheetrock repairer, chimney sweep, Jehovah Witness), should you take down or cover all of your deer mounts and skulls? Is it required to profusely apologize to them for making them uncomfortable? Or just not let them in the house at all in case they are on the fence about hunting/anti-hunting??
Man. I hope I do the right thing and not offend someone. It is so complicated being an outdoorsman these days.

We don't want the anti hunters throwing things in our face so we shouldn't throw it in their face. I use some tact when transporting my deer. We should remember that all though we have the right to hunt, others have the right not to see our dead deer. Besides most hunters have trucks so when they get beside you on the freeway they can see in the back of your truck and give you the big thumbs up when the pass.
