I like Spy Sweeper for a spyware program. For a virus protection I have tried most of them and they are all pretty good. I did have some issues with Kaspersky really slowing down my computer so I don't recommend that one. If you travel a lot and have to stay at motels, you'll probably have to turn off your firewall so you can access the networks at the motel, but aside from that most of them work fairly well. Right now I am using Macafee and it's okay. It's kind of spamy though. It's constantly asking me to upgrade.

For anti virus I run Avast which is free for home use.
          For malware I use Malwarebytes
I have also used Spy Sweeper and it works good too.

if you have ATT dsl, you can download the McAfee suite free of charge. Comcast has their own free one as well. Otherwise, AVG and Avast for AV and malwarebytes for spyware removal.

I used AVG(free version) till this last update and had a lot of issues and switch to Avast (free version). No problems so far with it and been running for several months.

download malwarebytes from download.com and make sure you are getting the right product, not one of the advertized alternatives.

Kaspersky!!! END OF THREAD! Been running it for 3 yrs here in the office on our LAN. It has caught everything that has been thrown at it!

I've noticed over the yrs that a lot of antiviruses don't play nice with certain programs... Luckily Kaspersky has what's called Proactive Defense that protects the install process. I have yet come across any program/game/issue that will not allow Kaspersky to install/run.

That was one of the problems I had with AVG after the update. It didn't play nice with several programs I had on my PC.
