    Need some advice

I know this has nothing to do with hunting but thought id ask for sime advice other than family. I was laid off for a year last year and went to school for HVAC. I got a semester under my belt before I got called back to work. I only went back because I wad in desperate need of money. Ive been thinking alot about going back and finishing up but its hard to do when you make 20 bucks a hr. Its a good job but I just dont see myself being there till I retire. Im 24 and single with no kids so I can do it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

First of all .... welcome to the fire!

Leaving a good job right now may be hard to do with the way the job market is. That said, since you've only got yourself to support now, it might be the 'easiest' time to make a change into a field you really want to be in.

    Best of luck to you!

I would keep working AND go back to school and finish out the HVAC. Then you could always fall back on HVAC,,

One thing people in Texas are going to always want is Conditioned Air. My family has been in HVAC for over 50 years and we shut down 10 years ago but are starting up a new company this spring. In good times and bad times it is a steady job all year long.

sounds like you've got plenty of time to work AND go to school. it's not fun, and it's not easy but i'm sure you can do it if you put your mind to it

Im not trying to recruit ya, but have you ever thought about joining the military? It's a great way to shake things up for a couple of years, and Uncle Sugar will pay for your school, and provide on the job training benifits after your enlistment. I only mention it, because you sound like you're in the same boat I was in before the military. P.S. Im from Daingerfield.

Only problem with working and going to school is we work 3 shifts and they rotate so it makes it hard to scedule around work. Maybe if things slow down I can do that but we are wide open were I work.

Best advice I can think of is don't get married and don't make babies for awhile.

Alot of good advice on here. I've been where you're at. You will probably only have this one time at these crossroads. Think about long term. If HVAC is what you see giving you fulfillment as a career, definitely do it. Life's too short to work a job you don't like. God Bless and God Speed!

I wish I could get back home, I'd love to see that game. I see you hit an AF recruiter already, all branches have their own height/weight standards and to be truthfull I don't know what the Army's is, but it will probably be a little more relaxed than the AF. Never hurts to stop by and ask. The Army has done amazing things for me, and don't think you'll be limited to a combat arms mos, we have tons of tradesmen, mechanical, and medical jobs too. Just a little food for thought. If you want to be 100% independent when achieving your goals the military can give that to you. I'll quit hounding you about it, but I can't speak highly enough about what it has given me.
