I have a farm in Pike County and grew up in Southern Illinois. It's going to be really cold -- deer usually start moving a little later. Find a food source -- standing corn or soybeans are GREAT this time of year OR turnips or rape.

Depending on where you are hunting, I have a taxi that I use in Pike County that I have been pleased with my shoulder mounts.

    Have fun and stay warm!

I was planning on hunting the stand closest to the corn field. I was more curious as to the buck movement in the late season. The property has a cut corn field on one side of it. The stands are already in place, and one of the stands is on a bedding area. It's difficult to describe as it's not far out of town, but surrounded by corn. I have to give it one more shot, I just hope to catch a big buck making a mistake.

Hill, what about the cape and horns, etc, if I were to fly and kill a big one? I figured I could get a processor to ship the meat, but what about the horns and cape? I wouldn't want a taxi from up there doing the mount, I would want it done here in Texas with a guy, I know does great work.

Doc, I'm going in the middle of the week, and you need a $450 tag. Maybe in a few years
10-4. Good luck. No 150 passes this time.

I hunt ohio and we have had some cold temps, last week highs barely at 20 degrees. Evening hunts are your best bet and set up between bedding and a food source and you might catch a giant. Some people say the late season can be the best bet for killing a monster. Good luck.

I hunted there 2 years ago in January. It's cold but well worth it. As stated above, hunt food sources of any kind.Late season is a good time to kill a monster. Good luck!!!

The horns and cape can (or should) stay with the processor.. (tag goes with meat)
I say leave it all with him and let him ship it all?
I'm sure they would, best bet is to call and ask.

You might be able to pack it in a styrofoam ice chest (NO DRY ICE on an airplane) and bring it home, but I would be worried about not having a tag when I get back to Texas.
