I went to look at a truck back in October that a guy was selling over in Cypress. While test driving he tells me he has a matching tonneau cover for the truck from his boss. It wasn’t advertised with the truck in the ad but he would throw it in with the price advertised. I told him I would take the truck, the cover and I would be back later on that week to give him the money. He said that works for him. He could go get the cover, the hardware and put it on the truck by then. Perfect! I show up later that week and the cover is on the truck. But it was just on the truck, with no hardware. I tell his wife that I’ll leave the top and I’ll come back later to install it. Come to find out the guy was selling the truck for his Ex-wife and the cover was all his deal from his boss. So she doesn’t have anything to do with the cover at all. I have sent email after email asking if he ex had made any headway on getting the hardware and now she tells me that he ex doesn’t work for the guy anymore. So getting the rails will be next to impossible.
An afterthought is that this guy had the bed cover in his garage with no rails or shocks and found an avenue to get rid of it. Now he is crawfishing.
So here is my question, I paid her for a truck that had a bed cover included at the time of the sale. If the original bed rails can’t be located she should pay for the replacement frame rail and shock kit? Even though the bed cover wasn’t her deal?
What do you think?
