    Protein Mix For West Texas

Going to start protein in January and was thinking about mixing record rack, corn and roasted soybeans in my gravity feeder. I figured it mite give them some variety, and would be a faster way to see which protein feed theyll eat. Just wondering if anybody has tried it, or if there mite be a downside.

I would not waste the money on corn....on feeding protein minerals are needed so a good protein feed would benefit more than a mixture....

Well like i said im starting protein for the first time, so the corn is in there to keep them coming to the feeder. Once i see which feed their eating the best i will gradually decrease the corn to 100% protein.

Been using Record Rack(elk feed) for the last 4 yrs with good results. Probably going back to cottonseed this year though, now that it's affordable again.

Question on the cotton seed are you feeding it out of a free choice feeder? Are you buying it bagged or bulk and what are you paying for it? Not trying to hijack just interested also.
