    Scent help/advice

First off would like to thank everybody on the forum that posts advice and tips. As a newbie I need all the help I can get!
As far as scent goes is uncented bodywash and deoderant ok to use? Are the no scent stuff at cabelas and walmart just overpriced speedstick? What about clothing. I'll be on public land for five days. So no shower.
    Any advice?
    Thanks

Spray down before walking in, and hunt the wind.

I use the scent free shower gel and deodorant, spray down when I get out of the truck, then I douse myself in doe pee or buck pee before walking into my setup, deer literally walk and eat right underneath me. I do wash my clothes maybe 3 times a season and try not to wear then when i'm not hunting, but overall, the spray down and deer pee seem to work just fine. (also sitting 20+ feet up in a tree helps)

Hunt the wind my brother. You can't git rid of the scent, you have to breath.

Plus, I use a no scented soap and Arm & Hammer Unscented deodorant. I've tried the deodorants that come in the soap kits and never liked them. A&H works and lasts.

I wash my clothes, Spray scent a way on them, hang them outside for a couple of days in a tree, then fold them all up and put them in a storage container with earth scent wafer. Carry the tote to the field with me, dress in the field while spraying down with Scent a way in between layers. Squirt coon pee on my soles of my boots and off to the stand. #1 thing I have learned this season is play the wind, have multiple stand locations at each feeder. I don't use scent free soap/shampoo/laundry soap. good luck

Find you some Buck Fever Synthetic -Vanishing Hunter. It sprays on your bare skin, your clothes, and you can rinse your mouth with it. Amazing stuff. I've never used anything that works this well. Not sure how it will work on a 5 day hunt but they also have wipes you could use as well. I generally take a shower, dry then spray my body down with this stuff and let it dry then get dressed. My dogs couldn't even find me and I've had deer downwind multiple times within 8 yards and NO detection!

Change out of your hunting cloths asap when not hunting.
They should last a week. It's been pretty cool so you shouldn't be sweatin' much.

Do the scent free soaps and detergents work? Don't know for sure, but I use them. Does ScentLok/Scent Blocker/Under Armour Scent Free clothing work? Not sure, but I use them.

I know there are plenty of people that say the stuff is all a hoax, and the recent lawsuit against ScentLok may prove it, but I still use it. ScentLok may not block 100% of scent as advertised, but any idiot that truly believed that shouldnt be allowed to hunt. Unless you get inside a completely sealed HazMat suit or something, there is no way to block all scent, but that doesnt mean I wont try. Even if all the scent blocking clothes, cover scents, detergents, body soaps and everything else are only 25% effective, I am willing to do what I need for every little advantage.

There are plenty of people who say if you play the wind right, you can hunt in jeans and a white t-shirt, but you never know when the day may come where that big buck takes an alternate route to your perfectly wind oriented blind and catches your scent. Every little bit counts in my book.

I keep my hunting clothes at the lease at all times, in carbon lined scentlok bags. They only come out of the bags on the way to the blind, through the hunt, then go back in the bags when we get back to camp. Never wear it anywhere near anything cooking. I wash my hunting clothes once, maybe twice a year, in a washing machine that has never had anything but scent free detergent run through it. I bathe before every hunt with scent free body wash and shampoo. I spray down before the walk to the blind and again once in it with cover. I wear Scent Free rubber boots everywhere. I keep a dozen earth scent discs in my hunting bag ready for deploy once I get in the blind. Is it overkill? Absolutely, but as I stated above, every little bit helps. All I do is bowhunt, and scent control is 100X more important when your quarry is that close.

Take a couple gallons of water and some scent away soap to just take a sponge bath with and pay special attention to the areas that put out the most odor. Hair, undrearm, hands, face and certain other areas if you know what I mean.
You will not get rid of all your odor but you can knock it down some. As others have said try to hunt the wind (with public land that can be very difficult to do since they can and will come from any direction) hunt as high as you can in a tree or if hunting in a ground blind rake the dirt floor inside as best you can to get the dirt disturbed. I think Golden Estrous scent works great as well as other wildlife research scents. I dont use a lot of it when I put it out but just enough (stick a twig in the bottle and lay it on the ground) in several areas downwind of me to try and minimize my scent. Leave early enough going to your stand location and walk in slowly so you dont break a sweat. I would also dress light for the walk in and then layer up when I got there according to the weather. You will not eliminate all your odor but if you can make it as faint as possible it may give you that split second you need to get a shot off. Best of luck to you.

When I am in a situation like yours that I can't take a shower, I use field wipes to clean up before every hunt.

Bathe in scent free soap, dry off with towel washed in scent free soap. Clothes washed in scent free soap. Rubber boots. If you hunt around cedar, rub it on you. Take some with you in the stand and rub the cedar occassionally while in the stand. Don't put on your outer layers and hunting boots until leaving the vehicle for your stand. And.........hunting the wind is huge, but if you have limited time to hunt, then hunt.
