    Help - Frozen Meat Issue

    I had some friends bring back some duck meat from a duck hunt they were on. Unfortunately they froze about ten breasts together in a large ziplock bag with water. I don't want to thaw all ten when i only want to use one or two. Any suggestions for how to separate the meat without ruining it or thawing it all out?

    I would think you could run room temp water over the bag until you can break the breasts apart. That way you really aren't defrosting the meat, just the ice in between where they are stuck together.

        Just defrost in sink at room temp till they come apart! No big deal...we freeze meat then defrost it to make sausage...then freeze the sausage...what is the difference?

            That's the best way. The water will melt away the ice long before the meat thaws out.

              Unlike thawing meat out on the counter that then must be cooked you can safely thaw meat in the refrigerator and then re-freeze it without problems. USDA
