    Another First

Got to the stand early this morning before the front hit. When we left my house it was 46 degrees. As themorning progressed, the temps fell.
Hunted the morning hunt and had no success. Sat around the camp fire for a few hours and headed back out around 2 this afternoon. Easing throught the woods, my friend Travis turned south of me to hunt a trail leading to a soybean field. I headed to hunt the soybean field. I get about 15 yards from the stand when a Doe jumps from her bed and runs south. I let out a whistle and say Deer. I then hear Travis shoot.
I ease over ot him and he says he is not sure if he hit her or not. We getr in the stand and sit for about an hour and a half. When the wind really started blowing (25+ mph) the snow was blowing right into my face.
I ease out of the stand and ease over to Travis. We walk over to where the doe was when he shot and looked for blood. We find the blood and start a very short track; maybe 30 yds. Once again the Savage 243 put another deer on the ground.
This is the 1st gun harvest for Travis and he is HOOKED big time on Deer Hunting.

Look at her front left leg. She had broken it and it had healed. The bone was jump about to punch out of the skin. Good size doe and should eat really good..
    Congrats Travis..

Those 100 grain Core-Locks do a number on whatever they hit. This is the fourth harvest with this gun. Four shots, four harvest....

We let this deer hang all night after we skinned her out. Woke up this morning only to find her Frozen Solid... Ended up splitting her down her spine, and then quartering her up. It will be at least a week before we can even start to process her...
