    Woodworking Pattern Help Needed

I need a pattern to cut out the state of Texas for a Christmas present I will be working on. I would like it to be about 11 inches at the widest point- to print on one width of standard paper, regardless of how many sheets, and it would help to be able to print from word. The size is not exact, I can scale the rest of the project to this. Can anyone help? I found this: http://quickfacts.census.gov/qfd/maps/stout48.gif for the shape, but is the wrong size. A google search indicates a picture can't span more than one page in word?

Where exactly are you, in NW Houston?

And you're just needing the outline, right?

Another thing you can try is to print the shape to a transparent sheet and use the old overhead projector to project the image to your wood...you can adjust the size using distance between the wood and the projector...that is if you have access to one...either that or find a architect or engineer friend that has access to a plotter printer...

      Good Luck!

Magnolia/Tomball. Yes, just the outline. I am going to cut out the state shape, and then use a scroll saw to cut out their last name and a place at the bottom for a family photo. They are stationed in California and collect all things Texas. I wanted to add a personal touch.

Do you have access to a good copier? Here's the way I do it. Use Google Images to find the outline you want and print it off. Take it to the copier and just keep enlarging it till you get it to the right size then just cut it out.

I tried that Jerp- What happens when i get larger than a 8 1/2x 11 page? Don't laugh if I am missing something really simple here.

Ah, I missed that part. Could you copy two halves, cut them out and tape them together?

I think that may work. Could cut it in 1/4 even

If not, you can take your copy to a local printing service (UPS Store) and they can enlarge it for you too...not sure what the cost may be...

                    Try these.

                    nwtexas.pdf

                    setexas.pdf

You'll have to do a little fill in, down in the valley, but it should get you what you need.

Thanks Kevin! My wife got something to work using paint too, so I am good to go now.
