    Searching for first bow

I've always hunted with gun and now I'm determine to be a full time bow hunter so I'm searching for my first bow. I have plenty of questions on what I should get for my first one. What brand, price, or size bow should I be looking at? I think my draw length is around 26-28, and I'm looking to spend somewhere around $300. Any suggestions? also since I'm fairly new to TBH I still can't view the classifieds, is anybody selling what can be my first bow?

    thanks!

Your best bet is to go to an archery pro shop they can measure you and make sure you get the right draw length and get set up right you can get some basice beginer bows for around what you are looking to spend brand new. My first was a pse nova and if I remember correctly it was under 300 everything set up ready to go. There are several other brands that make beginer bows. plus if you go to an archery shop they usually have used bows too.

                  great place to start.

Sam or Robert will make sure you are fitting properly and help you with form. As mentioned I would look for something used that you may find with all the accessories already on the bow but let someone look it over first that knows what to look for.

You are gonna have a blast!

Definitely go to an archery shop and get measured for your draw length. Then, figure out what draw weight you can handle sitting down. At that point, you will know your draw length and the draw weight range to shop for. Many people make the mistake of buying a bow that has too heavy a draw weight. As a beginner, you want a draw weight you can pull 25 - 50 times in a practice session. You don't want to tire out after 5 arrows.

Bows have gotten better and better through the years. So, the lower end bows will perform pretty well too. Keep in mind that you will want to budget for a release, quiver and arrows in addition to the bow, rest, stabilizer and sight.

You'll also want a practice target unless you plan on joining an archery club.

Check out archerytalk.com for a good used bow. They have a classified section with tons of bows from all over the country. I am a hoyt guys so I am biased but you could probably get a used Hoyt UltraMag totally loaded for $300 or less.
