The story on our place is the farmer caught his young wife and foreman messing around in the NE corner. He killed them both in the foreman’s car and it has sat untouched all these years.

They have both been seen walking the woods at night and most will not sit the NE stand past sundown. While sitting around the campfire telling the story one 4th of July my niece and her friend wanted to see the car. They loaded up on the four wheeler and off we went. As we rounded the big oak tree and the instant the lights hit the car the temperature dropped drastically. I barely made it back with any skin on my back.

Now I have a picture to go with the story!

Farmdog, given your experiences, maybe I can tell you a story without you thinking I'm crazy. About 23 years ago, I experienced something that I can't fully understand, but was very real to me. It was at a time when my first marriage was on the rocks. I was very distraught. One night I lied awake for a long time thinking about all this before I finally started to fall asleep.

As I entered that semi-sleep state, I became aware that "someone" had sat down on the edge of the bed right next to me. I wanted to open my eyes, but I couldn't. Nor could I move. But I could feel the mattress slowly sink in on that side and I was very much aware that someone had begun sitting there. So close that I could feel them against me. I'm not sure, but I think they placed a hand on my arm. But they did not touch my skin directly, as there was a sheet and blanket over me.

I was simultaneously aware that my wife was still lying on the other side of me and I knew that we had been alone in the house with the doors locked. I was very aware of time and place and that I was in a semi-sleep state. The strange thing is I was not at all frightened. In fact, I instinctively knew that this "someone" was there to comfort me. No words were spoken. I did not see them; my eyes were closed the whole time.

Try as I might, I could not fully awaken myself. But I remained in this semi-sleep state and aware of the presence for what seemed like a long time. A peace gradually came over me and I eventually fell into full sleep.

When I woke up in the morning, I could remember it distinctly as happening several hours prior. Which is very unlike dreams for me. I usually have a very hard time piecing together dreams once I awaken, even when I was having them immediately before awakening. This was very different than any dream I've ever had.

I can't explain why, but I knew it was someone of the male gender. I feel that this was either a relative that had died, an angel or Jesus himself. In any event, I'm grateful to this "someone." They helped me through a very difficult time.

Funny you should mention Jimi, he died 30 years ago today.

Call me crazy but i truly believe in spirits and ghost.

In 2006 my wife's grandmother passed away of natural causes. She was very close to her grandmother and regreted that she never meet our son. About a month after the funeral my son (4 at the time) and i were going to bed. We shut off the TV and livingroom lights and I walked him to his bedroom. He stopped and was staring at the back door, then started waving. I asked him who are you waving at? Without hesitating he said Grandma Cox, she's standing at the back door waving at me. I told him well tell her you love her and you have to go to bed. He repeated what I said and said OK. Bye Bye.

Judge this as you want but I truly believe my son saw his Great GrandMother that night.

I've had similar experiences on a few different occasions. I can remember them vividly to this day. I did some research on this and learned about a phenomenon called Sleep Paralysis. One of the causes is "Increased stress".

It's interesting and describes what I experienced well enough to lead me to believe it is what I have experienced.

Not saying this is what you experienced, just suggesting it's a possibility if you've never heard and/or considered it.

Wow. That's very interesting. I can't rule that out as a possibility. I certainly was under stress and experiencing life changes. Were your experiences frightening or were they peaceful like mine?

Its good that you can remember that experience Snakelover and I am glad it helped you. On occassions I have many questions and at other times I just "let it ride" cause its unexplainable. I felt a hand on my shoulder and recieved a gentle shove just recently while I was in my closet..for some reason I instantly smiled and even softly chuckled and just answered it immediately..is that all you can do? I have no clue who it was, felt nothing cold (never felt anything cold as some report) I mention this event only because it was recent..not dramatic at all. advice to all..If...you are ever being evaluated by a shrink ..do not admit to this kind of stuff at ALL!..They know all about this stuff (hearing voices)...oh yeah and this will also be hard to believe for most...after I wrote last night about my ghostly visitations..I am sure one of them was following along as I typed...he bounces the basketball outside my window and shoots hoops at night..15 minutes after I laid down the ball outside my window started bouncing for about 10 minutes, except the hoop and backboard havent been on the wall for several years and the ball is long gone..but you can hear the ball dribble plain as day...when I heard the ball bouncing I smiled to myself..that it was paying attention to my rambling on the internet and wanted to play...I have never EVER looked outside to see who is bouncing the ball..I know what it is naturally I just dont know who it is

I once drove 6 hours. Snowski'd for twelve hours straight then attempted to drive home. I was doing 70 and tired as heck when I saw a skier standing in the middle of the road ski poles in hand looking over his sholder. I locked the brakes and skidded into the ditch. The guys with me said I was nuts and I let somebody else drive. It was probably lack of sleep and rest induced holusination but it looked so real.
