They said this would happen sooner or later

Had an eight come in this morning. 27 yards. Good release thought I had hit him in the back of the lungs and the liver. Had good spotty blood for 200 yards. Started out thick and red and got watery as we tracked. We covered a ton of ground and couldn't find him. I feel absolutely sick to my stomach. Over 50 times I've waited for this moment this season. Finally came an I blew it. I'm so upset w myself.
Please make me feel a little better and say it happens or something

It DOES happen! I had killed 32 animals with my bow before my first lost one and it was a horrible feeling. Sorry your experiencing it as well, but if you bowhunt, your going to experience it at some point

It's cool enough to give him some time if the hit was far back enough to get liver. Leave him be until later this afternoon and if possible get a dog on him. If you hit him anywhere close to where you thought you did, you'll find him. did you recover your arra? What did it look like? Any "green" smell or visual? By all means, don't give up! Heck, with this cool weather, he'd be good tomorrow.

Never found the arrow, I think it got stuck in the opposite shoulder.
I've got to head back tonight. Never saw gut blood or anything that looked bad. Thought he was gonna fairly close. Hoping they continue to look

where you Located? If he is liver hit he is DEAD
If it is watery it sounds like you might have caught a little gut also which can plug the hole. How long did you wait to go after him?

It does suck when that happens especially when you have invested so much time. It never fails, something like this happens when you have to leave. I feel for you amigo but go give it another look before you head out. Wish you the best!

                            ditto Sean

in my experience, deer will make a big circle and head to tanks or places that hold water ...

if it hit opposite shoulder that rascal is likely dead and you missed him while looking. I have seen a few times where the deer has died 50yds past the last blood I could find. I also have noted that deer tend to circle back also or even head back the direction they came. Give him several hours and then pick that trail back up. As long as your shot wasnt real low or real high and came out around the offside shoulder I would say he will be found sooner or later dead
