BIG BIG BIG bank account so you can buy those auction tags or something like that. I watched a show the other day and the hunter had been putting in for 41 years and others put in for longer than that and never drew a tag

        It's crazy!!!

The Wildlife Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has invited bids from trophy hunters for Markhor and Ibex hunting permits during for the December-to-March hunting season. The deadline for bid bids is October 31.

Last year, the wildlife department sold three markhor permits for $80,000, $75,000 and $65,000. The hunters paid an additional $100 for a big-game shooting license.

WHAT?!!! An additional $100 for a big-game license....no way I would pay that! ha ha ha

It is most def a game of supply and demand, I just hope to have enough "supply" to make it happen.

thats a pretty good price on the markhor, last i heard they were still over 100k. someone on here had a picture of them with one in their avatar about a year ago. if you just wanna start sheep huntin you can got to the unlimiteds but chance of sucess with a bow s probably one in a millon. pm me and i can point you in the right direction

Keep saving and applying if you are going for the North American slam. I used to work for a great guy that got his 3/4 slam and was having a hard time drawing for the desert bighorn.

I used to be a member of FNAWS until I realized I would likely never go after sheep after I got the elk hunting fever. A wild sheep is an awesome animal, but you can have just as tough of a hunt or tougher going after mtn goats for a lot less money in the same country.

Saw some bighorns elk hunting in southern BC a few years ago. At that time the Rocky Mt Bighorn hunt was $18K. Now it's $25k + $2500 kill fee

Most likely the avitar pic was a Texas bred Markhor. . . . about 1/10th the price. . .

That way if one hunt fails when you go, youll have one for the next year or so. It will take 10-15 years before you draw a tag so start now. Otherwise its 25k-50k+ for the bighorns.

You can shoot a Fannin and count it as a Dall or Stone. Fannin and Dall hunts cost about15k-25k now. A reputable Stone hunt cost 30k+ now. Many of the good areas have multiyear waiting lists.

There are sometimes 20%-50% discounts that come up on cancellation hunts for all 4 species. If you can keep financial and logistical flexibility, you could focus on that but you'll also have to be in Sheep shape almost year round. A great test would be a Mtn Goat hunt.

Also, you might as well enter different states hunt raffles like the Texas Slam or FNAWS raffles. It at least give you a chance at a reasonable price, $10-$100.

Bowhunting Safari Consultants is a company my friends and I use. They can book hunts with an Archery reputable outfitter for any North American animal and they have a service to help you draw tags. Here is their website- http://www.bowhuntingsafari.com/
Talk to Mark Muehrer. Great guy. A close friend of mine booked a succesful Stone Sheep with him last year and is going after Dall and Bighorn through him next year.
Well said, the only correction I have is it Mark Buehrer. Mark knows his stuff and if he likes you he will funnel cancellation hunts or may get you bumped to the front of waiting list. Him and Neil Summers are great guys to deal with

The whole reason I have decided to do my best for sheep was my elk hunt this year. Was hunting a wilderness area west of Denver and we hiked to tree line and worked our way down each afternoon once they started sounding off. We were "only" 11,400 ft but I kept looking up and wondering what it would be like to hunt "up there." My partner keept yelling at me because I kept glassing up the adjoining mountain. ha ha ha

Saw some GREAT deals on some Mt Goats in BC on another bowhunting forum this past year. Would love to get a goat, but they don't quite have the appeal of the sheep. That said, it would be just as an enjoyable hunt...heck, I get jacked up just spot and stalking pigs....almost.
