Well I figured I would tell you how my Abilene hunt went. If you didnt know i got invited to do a cull hunt on a 63,000 ranch in Abilene. Well 4 days and only 2 does. I passed on 3 130" 8 points with the hopes of bigger. On the last night hunt I shot a 145-150 class 8 at 80yrds with my 180gr .308. Hit him in the shoulder he spun, fell, then got up and ran. He jumped the fence into the cedars and never found him, or blood. ***!!!!!!!! Needless to say it kind of broke my heart. after 3 1/2 hours of looking the next morning nothing!!!!!!!! Oh well as much as it sucks I guess thats why its hunting and not grocery shopping.

Sorry to hear that atlest you got a chance at a nice buck and I am sure you had a great time and trust I know how you feel. Same thing happened to me with my first bow buck and only buck I shot with a bow shot looked good to me and my wife she was filming watched the buck run and lay down waited 45 min. we stared talking about getting down and taking a look buck herd us got up and walked off like he was never hit followed blood for 20 yards then lost the trail never found the buck searched for 3 days.Comment

This was north of silent in hamlin. It's a big ranch that is all protine fed. There are some really big deer there. There are several cull 150" 8 points taken a year. This year they killed a 18 point 181 7/8"Comment
