thats what all the early ran does for us....provides deer with plenty of forage/acorns so deer dont need to eat corn much or come out of woods for that matter. Bigger horns but tougher hunting.

Actually this year and last year were awfully slow, the deer this year are better, but they are not moving much, or not enough for us to see them, not even much activity on TC's.
We have been on this lease for 10 years and the last two years have easily been the worst, we used to kill about 70 does per year on 4400 acres in Mason co. as of yesterday, we have 14 and 1 cull buck.
I guess last year it was the late rains and this year the rains and the acorns, I have been to the lease every weekend since the first of Sept and coould have killed a lot of does, but have only seen, while in a stand or pop up, 1 mature buck all year.
I guess it all balances out, we used to barely be able to feed a blind with a tail gate feeder and go park and get back to the blind before the deer got there, now I park way away, take corn in a backpack and sneak into the blind and feeder area to not scare off any deer.
Hopefully the last few cold spells will slow down the acorn "rage" and we can finally harvest a few good bucks.

the slowest thing about my season is the fact that i haven't been since october(exc for the 2nd hag hunt). the others have stuck 2 good(for lf llano) 8's. i am thru hunting feeders and the deer aren't coming very good anyway. i saw a 140(jumped up under my stand) and my kids rattled up a huge 9. it has been very slow for all. i get back in 2 weeks. my fingers are crossed.

Very slim pickings at our lease in Llano. One big 8 got shot that we never saw on the game cams so he came from some other pasture. Where we are it's all low fence and lots of people traffic so I'm sure the smart bucks don't come around much.
We had one pretty little 9 pointer on the property that I passed up opening morning of rifle season and another hunter on our lease passed up too as the buck moved through the pasture.
But he got killed the next day by a truck on the road.
The big buck was killed the 2nd weekend of rifle season.
Other than that all we have seen are a few does and one 3 point we culled last weekend that has been showing up in our game cam pics.
I think that area is very over hunted with nobody considering letting decent bucks to mature. We had a real pretty 3-4 yr old 8 pointer in the pics but have only seen him once since the season started.
It's hard to let the young one's go when you know they are going to get shot on another property.
Needless to say 3 of us will not be hunting there next year.
And we have no hogs.

I hunt s tx and before season I was getting hundreds of hogs and some deer coming to feeders now that season is open nothing comes to feeders. Does fawns and small bucks will only show up on sendero eating thrown corn. I've only seen 1 hog I'm guessing hunting pressure. I shot that hog and good buck that came out.
