LMAO. "Moser", the man that makes the best "one-liner" statements on this site....well, right there with Leggy.

    Cur_Dog,

I'll second the Trophy-Bonded Bear Claws by Federal, but where are you finding them these days? That's the only round I feel comfortable with shooting deer from my .22-250. I've got a box left out of the four I originally bought, but can't find them anywhere anymore!

      Sacket,

This is where I get mine. It's for the 270, 140 grain. They list the .22-250 in Vital Shock.

All my shots are upper neck shots. From big bucks to small doe, from 15 yards to 175 yards not one has taken a step after taking in a TBBC.

It's the only bullet I will shoot. They cost a little more but they are worth every penny.

I have been shooting the Winchester Ballistic Silvertips 25-06 for several years and have never had a problem. My wife shot her deer this last weekend with them. I have shot very large hogs with them as well and always get a pass through and good blood trail.

However, one deer would be too many to lose if there is any truth to these stories so I have been thinking about looking at another bullet.

Again, I have shot many deer, couple hogs, an axis, several yotes, and a bobcat and have never had a problem.

The only explosion problems I have had is on the heads they hit.

I personally don't care what other people shoot. I have reloaded for over 30 years. I use all different style of bullits for what ever I am useing them for, But I load a ton of Nosler Ballistic Tips. I shoot a 140 grain in 270 cal. I have killed over 20 deer with them and more than 50 large hogs. I have never had any problems with Ballistic Tip ammo . I also have never shot Factory ballistic tip ammo. All of mine I reload my self. With MY ammo and me shooting, I will go after anything with ballistic tiped ammo with confadence. And it will fall like a rock....

I put up top that I don't care what other people shoot. Well that not true.. I want a person to shoot what ever they fell does the job for them.. But just like on this thread. There are so many different opinions that you have to find what works for you and go with it. I see so many people that are allways looking for a cartridge to home in seekout and distroy what ever they want. It does'nt work that way. Good Ammo. Perfect shoot placement. and geter done.....

Glad everyone is free thinking on here! One small note about bullets, be careful on the fail-safes, TBBC's and other bullets that are controlled expansion and made to hold together. We had a hunter shoot a buck that was a perfect shot at about 120-150 yards with a .30-06 TBBC and the buck ran maybe 80yds and bedded down. When I trailed him and found him he was laying down with his feet underneath him and still panting. All I had was a .22mag pistol and couldn't get a shot. Lucky for us we were able to find him with the dog and put him down. Bullets for deer should be able to hold together but also not punch a small wound channel. On the other hand they shouldn't fragment to much. When all else fails, CORE-LOKTS!!!

I've used Winchester SuperX 130 PSP for years with great results (100's). I have tried Remington, but they never grouped as good as the cheap old winchester's. I've reloaded Gameking and Matchking for a while, but at 10.00 a box the winchester kept winning the battle, because they grouped nearly as good as the handloads and I can buy them anywhere.

You should go back and see if there are any buzzards cisling. If so, find your deer and see if there is enough left to make a call on what happened.

I have used the Ballistic Silver Tips with good luck in the past. All of the talk on here about Core-Lokt surprises me. I have heard bad things about Core-Lokt bullets blowing right through deer and leaving almost no blood trail. Goes to show that nomatter what the bullet, sometuimes crap just happens.

To make it plain and simple, you missed. You may have gotten real close and nearly scared her to death. STOP BEATING YOURSELF UP OVER IT! It happens. If you would have hit the deer there would have been a large entry wound made and plenty of blood at and around the initial area.
