La Niña has been in full effect for NM so far this year. Been really dry. I have never been much of a fan of Red River pretty boring little place IMO but it is probably a good choice for the family.
Not much snow anywhere in NM so far. Most of the ski areas are still closed and the ones that are opened are on a limited basis. If the snow don't come your ski trip probably won't be a very good experiance. Keep watching the snow reports.

My first day skiing was at red river, a long time ago. Was a pretty neat place. I could barely get down the mountain and then was forced to ski taos the rest of the trip. Huge difference in slopes, red river will be a great place to learn.Last edited by rjet; 12-04-2010, 08:01 PM.

We own a place there. Good family town. Snow is hit and miss. When we go for skiing we typically ski Taos but we are all experienced. Not familiar with arrowhead lodge but looks like it is at the base of the mountain. all food is pretty pricy. we usually buy groceries, snacks, drinks, etc at a wal-mart and bring them with us.
Hope you have a good time there will be lots of Texans and Okies.

Red river is a real cool ski town. This is where I learned how to ski a couple yrs ago. There is a great breakfast place called shotgun willies and some little bar we found in a basement that had live music and a pacman game. I have skied alot of places since but red river is My favorite. Great little ski town .
