    New blind setup

I just got back from a small piece of property that I was given permission to hunt. Checked it out week and a half ago and there is a TON of sign, scapes, rubs and trails EVERYWHERE. The road that borders the property has a very high incidence of auto vs deer accidents, anyway, that gives you and idea of the numbers on the place. Today, I finally had time to go set up a blind. I walked the whole place, searching for a good place to conceal a pop-up. There were lots of small nooks in the cedars that the blind would fit, but they were all pretty restrictive as far as shooting lanes. The other problem I was having was finding a spot that wasn't literally right on top of, or within a couple yards of a trail. I finally decided to put my blind in an opening between three cedars that were about 10 yards from the close edge and about 30 yards from the far edge of a deer superhighway. Literally, the area where I plan to shoot the deer, is like a mixmaster of trails, I counted at least 10 trails that all intersect at this one spot about 15 yards from my blind. I set the blind, brushed it in with cedar clippings and grass, then spread about half a bag of corn along and around the trails/intersection. I'm going to let it sit there for several days, maybe a week, then head out there and see what I see. Pics coming, let me know what you guys think.

The blind. Sorry for the sideways pic, not sure why my phone camera did that.

Yeah, I saw that one in the middle probably the day it was made or the day after, the bark hanging from it was still wet and there was no rain/dew that day. It's hard to tell from the pic, but that tree is about 3" diameter and that deer has worked all the way around that tree! The property owner said he's seen a "big buck" several mornings up by or on the road on his way to work. He's not a hunter, but he's seen is fair share of deer since he lives on this property, and every time he sees this deer, he tells me about it and I can tell it's definitely bigger than the average deer on the place. In case anyone is wondering how I came about this place, I was talking about some chicken fried deer steaks at my part time job a few weeks ago and the owner overheard me talking. Said if I made him some jerky, I was welcome to come hunt his place and kill as many deer as I had tags for. Needless to say, I told him that I'd be glad to make him some fresh deer jerky, especially after I saw that big rub.

This property has about an acre pond on the the property to the north, and a crop field on the property to the south, and the only route that is easily passible for deer, while maintaining some cover, is right through the middle of the property. The owner is also keeping a hanging feeder full and a deer block as well, but they are about 75 yards to the east of my setup and right behind his house. There's no real way to set up a stand of any kind over the feeder unless I sit on his back porch, but I can see the trails through the area where my blind is set up, over to the rub line, and through the gate to the feeder/block combo. Not sure, but I think I've found a honey hole. I also found where they are jumping the fence onto this property, the dirt is beat down and there is a ton of deer droppings in the area as well as big deep tracks. When I get some more time/money, I'm going to set up another blind near that entry point. The current blind is set up for a south wind, the one I set for the entry point will be or a North wind. Now all I have to do is figure out a way to set up a CHEAP feeder. I'm thinking the old PVC pipe feeder, but there really aren't a whole lot of trees to hang one on, just a bunch of cedars. Anybody hung a PVC feeder on a T-post?

                          Looks good!

I don't see any scrapes though all I see are rubs.
