I killed a javalina this past weekend, I boiled it and took all the meat off, but I don't know how to whiten it correctly. I have heard of using peroxide, but I don't know what to do.

no no no no no no no no no no no no on the bleach......it will continually eat away at the bone and cause it to become brittle over time. The best method I know of comes from soaking the head in dawn dishwashing soap and warm water for a few weeks to get the grease out. Then use a mixture of 40 volume peroxide and basic white ( can be found at a salon or van dykes taxidermy) and let it sit on the head for a few days. What you will have is a very white head that will last

I think bleach is the correct product to use, don't over-soak it though as it will lessen the bone strength
last week was doing my first euro mount and I cut of everything possible and had it at a low boil, simmer for over an hour (i read several posts on how to do it). after all this time in the pot, there was still some junk on the skull that was not coming of, not even very easily with pliers. I ended up putting it under a large silver trough in an attempt to attract dermestid beetles and build a colony.
What did I do wrong though?

Go to "Sally's Beauty Supply" and get some 40% peroxide. They also have some developer that you can mix with it to make it even whiter.
I prefer the Paste over the liquid. the liquid will wind up in the bottom of the tub or whatever you put in it and the paste will stay on the skull.
Leave it on for about two or three days and wash it off.
Spray paint it with a Clear Satin finish spray paint and you're none.
NO BLEACH!

I only bleach the teeth... I have not done it long enough to see if they become brittle over time. I use the boil method.. and just tried the "Air Boil" that was explained in another thread. The Air boil did an AMAZING job of cleaning all the junk out of the nasal cavity after the second head boil. It is drying currently and will mix up a batch of 40% peroxide tonight.. (I have a MIL that cuts hair and got me a big bottle of the peroxide for me)
