I hate to ask this on here but I know someone will help! lol. When sighting in a rifle @ 100yds, is it best to use the highest or lowest power? I do know that point of impact is diff. when using each at longer ranges. I always opted to use middle range, 4-6x, but friends are telling me highest and other the lowest. idk. Thanks

Dito...for peace of mind try multiple diffrent powers. It will not change the POI but it will give you a better working knowledge of you and your scopes capabitlities. For a sugestion, sight it at 100 yrds. then move to 200 and back to 50 yds. don't make adjustments if the 100 yrd. groups are tight, but again it will help you learn the capabilities includind bullet drop and rise. Good luck. Keep us posted...

i had a cheap scope from years ago that would have the impact change at different yards if the power was changed. but after its replacement and all others that followed never did. i gave up on that wifes tale from hunters that just did not make the shot. [blame the weapon, not the one behind the trigger.] say if you sight in 2 inches high at 100 yards, so that the round will be dead center at 200. that round may be off half a inch or more left or right someplace between the muzzle and two hundred yards. i guess what i'm saying is thats a round, not a lazer. from hookt it above, set the scope at 4, 6, 9. at 100 see if it changes. what will it cost you? better to find out today than the last day of season. jmht.
