    Hunting with my daughters!

My oldest set of twin girls has really started to show an interest in hunting. Just like their personalities though, they are very different. Emily is a die hard bird hunter and LOVES chasing ducks. Although she is 9, she still doesn't quite fit her youth model 20 ga. but we are working on shooting other guns in the meantime and it will be there for her when she is ready. She got first shot at going hunting this year as we decided to try our luck on the big duck opener (she got sick the night before the teal opener and didn't get to make it). Here are a couple of pics from that morning, we had a great time as usual!

    A couple of early birds.

Next it was Leah's turn. She is more interested in deer hunting so last Saturday a friend invited us out on a "management excursion" at his family ranch close to home. Our target was any pig that may show their face and does. Well this guy was under the feeder when we got dropped off so we made quick work of him...

Since it was so early, we decided to wait to go look at the pig so we could get a doe also...due to school projects we only had a morning to hunt. Leah' was pretty excited but she found the inner patience to stick it out. Kids are funny, I asked her if she heard the bullet hit the pig and heard him squeal and she replied, "Yeah, that was funny!". Anyway, about 8:30 we FINALLY got a clear shot on a younger doe between all the dang bucks! The doe made it to the brush line but I was positive she was hit hard so we went to look at the pig which was the hit of the day. Here are some better shots...

By the way, she LOVED the Jeep and informed me that "We need one of these!"

These are some of the best times had with them as it is one-on-one time. With two sets of twin girls that doesn't happen often and I am really cherishing these quick excursions to the outdoors. Leah said it all last Saturday. She asked me if I knew what the best part of hunting with me was...she then told me it was, "Spending alone time with you!" Good stuff my friends!
