where would you hunt (aerial map)

We are on a new lease this year in stephenville area. Possibly the hardest hunting i have done for deer and ive hunted deep east texas. I'm in a decent spot but i feel like there's a better one to be had. I'm not going to tell you anything about it and let you look at it with new eyes. Black line is property line. Property is divided into 2 pieces by county road. Piece with exclamation mark is too thick to walk through.

So going just off this map, pick your spot.

I'd like to set-up at the bottom right of the "!" mark in that clearing.

bottom right up above the pond......actually I would set up right in the middle of the stuff with the exclamation point........

I like the scattered area NW of the pond. You are probably looking at ground blinds or tri pods?

Right side has some natural funnels. Any of those would work, but I would check prevailing winds.

I like bottom right as well but it look like a very small clearing just to the bottom left oh the !. That might work as well with some hand corn

I would setup close to either of the ponds to your north or south to catch the deer before they leave your property to water. If I were rifle hunting id hunt the power/pipe line on the north side.

txcazador, thats where im thinking about moving to.

Now ill give yall a little info.

bowhuntertex, i dont think you understand how thick it is. Briars floor to ceiling.

If you hunt that clearing by !, i guess you can hunt out of the camper! Thats a clearing left by oil company. Now it is camp.

big iron, yeah its almost gotta be a tripod in there. I dont do ground blinds w/ bow. Good looking area in there. There is a large ridge just north east of the pond across the fence. Very thick at base of ridge. Relatively open at top. Top of ridge is close to south fence.

gatt40, can you point those out to me please?

Btw im only bowhunting....with a recurve at that.

Problem with that bottom right corner that everyone likes is that there is not a ton of sign in there and no rock solid trails so its hard to pick a spot when your effective range is so short. At this point of the season you hate to waste a hunt on a "scouting" sit.

oh and im hunting the smallest patch that is on the south border just east of the county road. Wasn't crazy about hunting so close to camp but it was the best looking spot sign wise. To date i have seen more deer than anyone else on lease.

Cool deal. I would still try to concentrate on the scattered areas, maybe hunt tight as you can on a few pionts. This will give you a vantage point to see where they are coming and going and then move the tripod in on them if possible.

Try to hunt the pipe line, or some of the easements on the left.
