Austin rut

I hunt south of Austin does anyone have any reports on the rut?

My buddy saw 7 bucks last Monday on his 3 minute drive to school in the Westlake/Bee Caves area

My dad shot a 8 pointer last Sat by the air port in south austin. I told him to rattle and he did and the buck came out min after and was feeding on some corn.

Just hunted 17 days in a row in san saba.Only saw small bucks chasing and many just eating corn.Never did see the big 12 I was looking for.I think it will really kick off this week.

Watched an 8 following five does two days ago but no rut activity, don't think the does are receptive yet

You missed the initial rut already south of Austin towards Wimberley by about 2-3 weeks. There are still some signs of rut activity but not as hot as it was 3 weeks ago.

Rut should be kicking good downtown tonight with this cold weather...
