    Weber Bullet vs. Smoker

Does anyone have any experience with the Weber Bullet?

Im debating wether to buy one of these or just save up and buy a Pit.

Can anyone tell me what you like/dislike about either one. Thanks.

I went with a good old fashioned heavy duty smoker pit.
Offset firebox is a must .

I've cooked some darn good stuff with the $35 weber water smokers ( I have two for when I don't feel like bringing the big pit in from the ranchito) , but you have to constantly mess with the fire on long smokes on big stuff like briskets, turkeys, roasts, etc.

You have to keep adding wood/charcoal a piece or two at a time with tongs to keep the temperature constant.

Ok, this is a subject I can speak on...
The Weber Smokey Mountain is the only way to go if you want to set it and forget it. I used the el cheapos and sidebox smokers for several years before I broke down and spent the money on the Smokey Mountain. I can do 8 - 10 smokes without ever messing with the fire and the temp never moves. It does take about 30 minutes to regulate, but after that it just smokes. I love mine. Here is a link with all kinds of info.

Don't get me wrong, I like sidebox smokers too, but the Smokey Mountain has me sold hands down.

Thanks Barney, I was on that website yesterday, but I would rather have the comments of some TBH'ers with the experience than a bunch of people on a random site.

I usually use my buddies cookoff pit when I do brisket and wouldnt mind puttin out the cash if I got one on a trailer.. i just dont want to spend that kind of money on a flip of a coin since i now nothing about the Smokey mountain (bullet).

How long do they usually last?

I have only had mine for a bit over a year, but I would think they would last 15+ years. You would need to replace the grates every now and then, but they are well made.
I take a medium bag of regular Kingsford and pour about half the bag in the fire-ring, then start one chiminey of charcoal. Add the lit charcoal and throw on some wood for smoke, adjust the vents to regulate the temp. At that point I add the meat and it will hold a temp for 8 - 10 hours without ever messing with it. Great for overnight smokes. Hope this helps.

Its helping alot...!! Because I like the size and portability of them I'm just having trouble convincing myself it would be any better..

What size do you have? 18 or 22?

I have the 18. Being portable was one of the big selling points for me and I had the same question about it being any better. I can say that once I used it there were no more questions about that. Just my opinion, but I think they are much better than anything out there for smoking. The only thing easier to use would be a pellet-smoker and I do not like the idea of pellets myself. The WSM produces a product that tastes as good as anything cooked on a sidebox with less effort.
