Put him in a high fence and feed him a couple years.

Pigs, that's what. But baitin' them with a little deer? Come on! J/K

Hope the gate is opened from a distance so the deer doesn't hurt itself from fright.

it's a bad deal...they can really tear themselves up in short order. I really hope your Dad has help w/ the release as it can get dicey.

I recently got a new trap about the size of yours but had it made with no top so the deer can get out. We catch at least one deer a year and it hurts to watch.

Not sure how he did it but he's out... this is in his front yard though and these deer have no presure, never been hunted so maybe that helped. He acted like it was no problem getting him out. I haven't actually spoken to him, just text messages.

we had a buck get into one of those one season. he really beat himself up... his antlers were bloody (he was still in velvet), his jaw was messed up, etc... I had to climb on top of it and open the door while he was trying to gore me with his antlers.

Either cut the lid off the trap or put some panel over the entrance to discourage the deer.

2x Put diesel on the corn. Never had a problem catching a deer with diesel corn but caught plenty of pigs.
