    one proud dad!!!

Well guys and gals, I can't begin to express my feelings about how proud I was this weekend. About a month ago my 11 year old showed his intrest in hunting, now mind you this kid is a real animal lover. I mean if it runs crawls or even slithers he's all over it. So I decided to take the weekend off from work. I drug myself in at 2am Friday night, loaded the truck and laid down for a 2 hour nap. At 4:45 I woke him up, after taking a shower and getting dressed I walked to his room expecting to have to drag him out of bed (the norm)but he was'nt there.notin the living room either hmmm. I walked outside and low and behold there was this boy more excited than I have ever seen him sitting in the passenger seat of my truck rearing to go. The whole 3 hour drive to the ranch he was tapping his feet and very restless. It was a great feeling. By the time we got to the Ranch gate he was about to explode. After unloading our gear in the cabin, I took him to the truck and let him have his choice of guns, .243 or my 270 short mag. He checked both of them out and to my dismay he chose the 270s.m., but there was noway I was going to try to talk him out of it. I explainrd how the full moon might work against us, so he decided we would hunt all day! We got to the stand @ 10 a.m. and finally at 3 our first deer a doe and yearling, after glassing her for about 45 min he taps me on the shoulder Buck dad Buck. It's on now. I glassed him, It was a four pointer no brow tines a perfect buck for him. Now was the scarey part for me,Was the gun going to be to much for him? I got the gun up got him steady on my lap and let him get settled,he was breathing deep like I told him. I asked ''Are you ready" He nodded I took the gun off safe and told him when he was ready ''Take him". Before I could get my bino's up to watch the shot BAWOOOOM!!!! Isaw the buck kick and take off. He turned to me with the biggest grin I have every seen from my son and said "i gotem". The thirty minute wait nearly killed him! We got down, and before I could even find where he had shot him,Dalton was on blood he tracked him for fifteen yards and found his trophy like he had been doing this for years! this was by far the absolute Best hunt I have ever expereinced in all my years. There is nothing better!!!

That's one of the best moments and feelings in the world as a dad.

What a blessing for your son to get to hunt with his dad too. Awesome.
