Rage two blade out of crossbow question.....

First off i dont want to hear the negative stuff about Rage or crossbows! I dont care.... this is for a little 13 year old girl.

My buddy's little girl shot a doe at 15 yards broadside with a crossbow tipped with a Rage two blade. Got it on video. Perfect perfect shot placement. Right behind the shoulder. Complete pass thru with good blood on whole arrow. They(6 people) tracked her for over 300 yards with little to decent blood. NO DEER! That was on Saturday and as of this am. they still have not found her. No buzzards and no coyotes seen in area as well.

He wants to know is it bad to shoot mechanicals in crossbows and what do y'all think happened? Did it not open(it was open when he found the arrow) was it just bad luck of not finding her?

My wife has shot three deer with her crossbow, all with mechanical heads, all three deer didn't make it past 50 yards.

The only downside I've heard about Rage and X-bows is that they can be more prone to opening on launch, but have never seen that first hand.

I would chalk it up to bad luck personally, it's too bad, because I too lost a deer this weekend.

Can't help ya there but you might want to pass on this x-bow broadhead info to any you know who shoots one. I talked my dad into getting an x-bow this year so he could hunt with me during bow season. He ordered the x-bow trick 175 gr. broadheads and dayyyummm, these things are devastating. He's taken a doe and a hog and both left a massive blood trail and didn't go far at all. It looked like they were hit by a .300 sendero.
