    Dang javelinas!!!

This isn't your typical "dang javelinas" thread. For some reason, I just can't connect with one (with my bow that is). For one reason or another it doesn't come together. The closest call I had was 3 years ago during turkey season when one slipped in out of nowhere and I blew the shot. Anyway, I go to my buddy's ranch today to make sure my 270 is on since my daughter and I are going to hopefully pop a doe or two for the freezer in the morning. I actually thought about throwing my bow in the truck but second guessed thinking I wouldn't be out there till late morning and already had enough on my schedule...had to inspect the neighbors ranch for an appraisal, take down my popup, find my quad pod AND be home by 3. I'll be dang if those stinky little boogers were not all kicked back right by my stand. I was down wind too, so I am pretty sure I could have made it in close enough for a shot. On this particular ranch I have only seen javelinas one other time in 7 or 8 years and that was at night...the curse continues. I know many of you won't even mess with them but I sure want to stick one with the bow. One of these days!!!

sorry about your luck, i have shot enough of them with my bow i dont even bother wasting the arrow and broadhead anymore. i think i might start shooting at them with a sling shot.

The thing that is driving me crazy is I can't tell you how many times I have stumbled in on them or purposefully walked to them and been within EASY bowrange...they just have my number now that I have decided to try and stick a good one for a euro mount. Crazy.

I have hunted firstpoint, lincoln then back to firstpoint after javelina and have yet to connect. The more i hunt them, the more i want one. Figure i've spent over 3,000 so far. Fixing to send a deposit on monday for another javy junt in jan. It's a long drive from pittsburgh to texas for javelina but i'm stubborn.

you are welcome to stick them any time when you can get out to starr...never can tell when they will show but we certainly have our share.

i'm home bound this weekend as i kinda started feeling puny today & really needed to rest.

you going to be around for the holidays?? not sure of my schedule but will let you know when i head out...looks like we have to take a min of 25 does this year.
