I've been watching a young 8-pt visit the oak trees around my house for weeks now. He's a youngster that I don't think would quite make the 13 inch rule although legally you're not supposed to hunt where I am, nor do I have any desire to do such. Anyway, this evening he walked past my window limping badly so I walked to the window to have a closer look at him. On his left side just in front of his hip is a small hole. On the right I can see a distictive point protruding from under the skin but it is not sticking through. There's no blood or fluids coming out of the wound so I'm hoping it missed his gut and it's just a muscle injury. He was eating acorns and I'm hoping that he is going to survive, but I don't know. Man I'd like to catch the idiot who did this. I hate to see an animal suffer.

Several miles. This young fella is a local guy as I see him everyday, and usually several times a day. He was fine around 11:00 this morning. I'm sure it was someone in the neighborhood.

Someone probably shot him from their window. My girlfriends mother had someone in their neighborhood do the same thing to a doe. I would call the GW and let him know. at least he will know if other things come up around there.

What a shame and what a waste. I sure hate to hear that. It sounds like an illegal attempt to harvest an animal.

Just a thought ... Do you think the GW might dart him? Seeing as he comes to your place, he's still walking and feeding, that might be the perfect place to dart him, find the problem, and fix it. Otherwise the wound is going to get worse and he'll die a horible death.
