I would say I was with you on the "Trophy Doe" but they are giving me heck right now...

Now if I hunted harder or more (leave the whiskey alone...) I might do better. But I have tomorrow off so I'll head out tonight and give it my best shot on a 3 day weekend.

We have several running around this year. It's nice to actually see some deer during the daylight hours since we got rid of the lease member who thought it was ok to run pig dogs on the lease.

At least it was a youth, would really burn if it was an adult with a smoke pole.

My biggest weakness is being broke white trash that cant afford to hunt where there are deer with horns AND a chance of success.

ME!! Anything is a trophy to me that is 3.5 or a doe... I am shooting a 38 # recurve and am limiting my shots to 10 yards are less. Had two mature bucks stay at 15 and 17 yards last year. It is still fun watching and hoping they come in for the kill. I am going to get new limbs built to allow me to feel comfortable at 15 +.

A buck I am hunting for the second year now only comes at night, every night. He showed once in the afternoon in Decmber last year, I'm hoping he makes that mistake again this year. I've been sitting in the same stand before and after work during the week and hunting there on the weekends. I want a change of scenery but I just know as soon as I move he will show up.

This. Although the last two weekends have been below freezing in Ozona and we had a nice sheet of ice all over the truck each morning, and the water troughs were nearly frozen solid.

I've been passing on 2 particular bucks for the past 3 seasons. They're both easily identified, one via scar on his left hip (haven't seen him yet this season), the other by the white on his legs (this is the one I named G4). I saw this buck on trail cam and have gotten a few good pics of him. I'm not sure if it's my camera not working correctly due to the few daytime pics I've gotten (of all deer, 6 daytime vs. over 300 night). Went to the lease to hunt him opening weekend of general season. I got there late Thursday night and bow hunted Friday morning, Friday evening, Saturday morning and decided to sit in the rifle blind Saturday evening. Haven't seen him come out yet. (Same hunting area & feeder, just 150 yards from feeder area). Wouldn't you know it, he came out. I watched him for over an hour munching my previous chum corn piles 15 yards from my bow blind. I was sick... I haven't seen any other bucks on cam or on the hoof that have really got me stirred up to just rifle hunt other than getting this particular buck with a bow. Sunday morning and evening, bow hunted, nada. Monday morning and evening bow hunted.. still nada. Had to leave Tuesday morning. I'm going back out this next Wednesday and strictly bow hunt for him. Hopefully he hasn't broken any tines off... we'll see.... Wish me luck!

(sorry for the pics I added, just turn your monitor on it's side)

I am hoping mine went nocturnal, 2 nice shooters on camera and now they disappared. I am hoping they did not get shot on the neighbors when gun season started. Heard quite a few shots opening weekend.
