Anybody seen any action in Kerr county? I was out two weekends ago and it looked like it was getting fired up! Anybody else seen deer in full rut?

I haven't been in a couple weeks but the guys on our place (out past Hunt) were there this weekend and said they saw a couple young deer with their head to the ground... At our place it is usually ON the week before and the week after Thanksgiving, thats when we see all the big deer chasing...

I live in west Kerr and the rut is catching on. Small and medium bucks are on the move, but the does aren't interested. We need another good shot of cold air to really get things going I think. Had one small 8 in my back yard last night doing the licking branch thing and then had his nose to the ground as he followed the does out of the yard.

I see you live in Hunt, our place is just outside Hunt on 1340.... Like I said earlier, we see most mature bucks chasing around Thanksgiving on our place, is that what you normally see??

This is our first year to live here...
so I can only give you what my current observations are. I've been mule deer hunting for the last 28 years and haven't really concentrated on whitetails. I live near Kerr WMA. I can tell you that the activity has picked up dramatically since the end of October. I'm seeing bucks on TC that I have not seen all year and the mid size bucks are following does big time. I expect things to really pick up closer to Thanksgiving. That cold front coming should do the trick. Problem is I don't think the moon is going to cooperate. Whereabouts on 1340 do you hunt?
