I'd walk up to the drivers side window and ask them what they were doing.Maybe they're lost or need some sort of help.There would be no telling what the reason for them being out there could be so I wouldn't go pullin a gun on someone.I'd be ready to do that if I needed to but I wouldn't do that right away.I'd wait and see what excuse they had for being out there was before I got the law or a gun envolved in that situation.
Now if I walked up to the drivers side window and the driver didn't have the window rolled down ready to talk to me I'd be thinkin really hard about kickin things up a notch.

A little more back ground........the structure and outlaying buildings have been broken into in the past.

The neighbors have seen and run off cars with methheads snooping around the front gate.

You have had trouble with a drunk that owns property down the road.

You have found signs of poaching.

The road to the cabin is just an improved goat path.......it gets absolutely zero traffic except for myself.

It is pitch....pitch dark.....can't see your hand in front of your face.

This is east Texas......need I say more.

I wasn't sayin that to sound hardcore or anything like that.But theres no reason to assume that a person is up to no good because that might not be the case at all.I wouldn't walk up to the car like I was mad or wantin to start a fight or anything like that.I'd just ask them if there was anything I could help them with and if I got a negative reaction like gettin a gun pulled on me I'd find out pretty quick that they didn't need my help with anything I guess.

Like I said I'm not sayin that to sound all tough and whatnot.I wouldn't walk up like I was gonna kick the everlivin out of somebody.I'd just walk up and calmly talk to them like it was no big deal that they were there.I know I would do that and have no problem with it because I've done it before.Last summer a kid was parked out in front of my house for at least 10 minutes.I had never seen the pickup before but they were practically in my driveway so I decided to see what they wanted.I didn't even think about grabbin a gun........I'm not sure why I just didn't.I hollered at whoever was in the pickup from the front porch and nobody answered me back.So I walked out to the truck and stood beside it and I noticed the windows were tented.Whoever was in the truck never attempted to roll down the window or anything so I knocked on the window and a kid about 17 or 18 years old rolled the window down.Turns out he was talkin on his cellphone trying to get directions from someone and never even saw me standin beside his pickup so I actually scared him worse than he scared me.I asked him what he was doing,he told me and then he drove off a short while later.Was I nervous walkin up to that vehicle that I had never seen before in the middle of the night?I'm not gonna lie I didn't have a real good feelin about it but it turned out alright.So why would I have reason to believe that a situation like that wouldn't turn out ok again?The only thing I'd do differently is have a gun with me just in case I needed it.

I could agree with that.I aint never been shot at through glass before so I can't say what a bullet does after it goes through glass.But I've had a knotted up feelin in my stomach thinkin that I was gonna get shot at through glass before and there wasn't anything I could do about it.So I could definately see where not walking up to a vehicle in the dark would be a smart idea also.

I would get well armed and grab my phone as soon as I saw them coming up the road. I would then get hidden and wait and watch.

Had a similar situation occur on my grandmothers unattended ranch in coleman. December last year waking up a 5 to cook breakfast and get dressed. All the lights are off and there's a pair of headlights coming down our 3 mile private road that dead ends at the camphouse. Waited until they opened the gate and RANDY flipped on the porch light. Watching them shag tail was almost worth it. Now I know why we no longer see big deer.
