I was hunting out of my gun blind last night & as I was Looking thru my binoculars (10 x 12 ) I could see three fire trucks and no fire about two miles away. Now I know wat it was.

POST, Tx — National aviation investigators are still working to determine the cause of a fatal Sunday afternoon helicopter crash at a Garza County ranch.

The pilot and owner of the helicopter, 66-year-old Paul Allen Beach of Post, was pronounced dead at the scene. His 53-year-old passenger, Stephen Michael Chenoweth of The Colony, was transported to University Medical Center where remains in critical condition.

The crash occurred between 3:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. at Beach's ranch - the Beach Family Ranch - located about 13 miles east of Post on Highway 380.

According to the Garza County Sheriff’s Office, the helicopter was attempting to lift off when one of the blades swayed, rolled to the side, hit the ground and caused the helicopter to roll forward on its top.

County officials said Chenoweth’s 13-year-old son witnessed the entire incident and called 911.

The investigation has been turned over to the National Transportation Safety Board.

According to the news tonight, they believe that Mr. Beach was in the process of showing the helicopter for a possible sale. for those of you that travel that road between Post and Clairmont, the Beach Family Ranch is located on the north side of 380 and has a large metal sign above the entrance with those words on it. I pass there each time to the lease and always thought that would be a great ranch to have. Awesome country. Prayers to the Beach fmily.
