Ever hear a Hog growl like a dog?

Over the weekend I bowkilled 2 of 3 Big Boars that's been main stays in my hunting area and feeder .Yesterday morning,5 minutes before my feeder went off.I heard a growling animal coming up behind my Brickhouse blind on a small,but thick trail -downwind of my setup.It was sniffing the air heavy,you could hear it breathing thru its nose ,kinda like a deer when they blow.And the growl-it sounded like a dog to me ,a very mad dog.
I looked ,but could not see what it was.All I heard was the critter leaving back down the trail it came in on-growling every step.
I never heard of a hog "Growling" like a dog,Have you?
Not sure what it was,but I'm thinkin it was that last Big Ol' Smart Boar I haven't been able to put a arrow into..

Yep, and my wife got to experience it for the first time Saturday night. It was a good thing we were in the wooden two man blind and not the pop-up. She was a little spooked by it.

yep heard it numerous times........they aren't to fond of 3-4 dogs chasin em around in the dark bitin their rearends......sounds like a dog but alot eviler......if that makes any sense......first time i heard it i know the hair on my neck stood straight up

They will do that, especially when they have you figured out. Time to sit in a tree somewhere behind the blind to catch him when he's back there checking for you.

I just heard that last night in Uvalde.I was in a bow stand till close to 7pm waiting for myride.I was 10yds from the feeder that is 10 yds.I saw the pig walk out to my left but shot was obstructed.I was waiting for it to walk up the feeder so I ccould shoot it.It started to walk up but it heard mybuddies Polaris coming and it growled.Like a snort growl.Very weird.I have 25 years of hunting in S. Texas but never heard that.

When I bow shot a sow two weeks before rifle season just before dark, when I finally climbed out of my stand to track her, her mate was roaming around the woods in the dark snorting and growling to beat all. Since I didn't have a firearm on me, I let her lay until the next morning.

Happened to me! I was really close and really worried! If he didn't wind me before he sure could after that growl!

I too have heard the "evil" growl from a hog...

Oh ya hogs will growl when they detect danger. I've heard them do that and chomp there teath when they wind you or detect something is up. Will make ur hair stand up on back of ur neck that's for sure it gets intense when your stalking them in thick brush where u can't really see them its awesome makes the heart beat for lil adventure. Mind you I'm usually by my self in public refuges and my leases...

I've had the sow of piglets hang back and growl if she doesn't like something. She'll let them know if it's time to leave too.
