So as the title says, I caught some guys trying to steal the wheels off my neighbors truck last night.
It was about 1:30am when I went to get some stuff out of my truck before bed. When I came outside there was a car I've never seen parked in front of our driveway blocking me in. I looked around and there were a couple young urban looking guys hanging around my neighbors new truck two houses down. I couldn't really make out what they were doing, but they stopped and just stood there once they noticed I was watching them. I waited a bit and then asked them if the car was theirs, they said yes and mumbled some more stuff. I decided to hang out for a while just to see what was going on. In the back of my mind I figured it was just some teens messing with their buddy's truck but wasn't sure. Once they realized I wasn't going anywhere they stated walking to their car and when they got close I asked if they knew the owner and they said "don't worry about it" and jumped in their car. At the same time a truck and another car parked two houses down started up and all three vehicles sped off. That's when I realized something wasn't right and tried to get the plate off the car in front of my driveway but could only get the first half. My neighbor across the street was in his garage also and asked what was going on, I told him and he agreed something sketchy was going on. We went to check out the truck and sure enough it was up on a jack and all the lug nuts were gone. We tried waking up the neighbor but no one answered the door, so we called the cops and I waited around to tell them what happened.
The husband came over this evening and said thanks and said he's buying a gun for his wife
since he's a pilot and is always traveling and she is home alone. I HATE thieves and wish I would have realized what was going on sooner so I could have tried to stop them, but at least they didn't get the wheels.
