I am like a little kid in a candy store waiting for this little cool front to move through this weekend. We are already seeing a lot of our bucks broken up from fighting, so I am thinking we will see some good deer moving and cruising this weekend. With a hard Freeze Saturday morning, things should be rocking. Hopefully will get to put some deer on the ground and maybe my wife will get lucky and get a trophy.

The hard freeze occured at our place last Friday morning, the morning I shot my drop tine. We are seeing busted up bucks also. Should be good this weekend. Will probably have to fire up the Mr. Buddy Heaters to stay comfy as all I am doing is hog hunting or maybe if a muy grande walks out, 125"+, he will get shot at.

busted up already?
I don't know where you guys are hunting around Lubbock but I haven't seen any bucks the last few times I've hunted in the last week and I for sure didn't see any busted up at all this year. I live in Lubbock and hunt north of Post about 20 miles.
I'm pumped about the weather and have taken Friday off of work so I can hunt.
Congrats on the droptine. I must have missed the LDP.

I went to the lease last Wed afternoon and saw a couple of bucks that evening, but Thursday evening I had 5 8 points in and the 3.5 and 4.5 year old bucks were both busted. The best i have seen is the one shot last Friday morning, a typical 9 with split brows and a drop tine. I hunt in the SE corner of Kent County north of Hwy 70. I can see the lights of Jayton from one of my stands that sits on the east part of our lease.

We must be practically neighbors macoop, our Caprock lease is halfway between Ralls and Post off of 207. Unfortunately, the deer I was going to hunt broke off his g-2 on the main beam, so I have to hope another good deer shows up. I haven't seen any bucks in person yet there this year but have a lot on cams.
Other lease is South of Spur and we have one of our shooters that broke off a main beam above the brow tines, and others that are losing points daily it seems. LOL.

My place is on 651 over by Kalgary. I had bucks everywhere at the start of bowseason and as the seasone wore on they have all dwindled. I rifle hunted opening morning thinking I might see something good at long distances and get a shot but I never saw a buck. I've switched back to bowhunting after one rifle hunt and may not pick up a rifle again this season. I'm not even getting them on a regular basis on trailcam now. Don't know what happened but they aren't really coming to the feeders much. there's a few but nothing like last year. Late season may better for me this year when all of the vegetation is dead. I have a high fenced food plot that I closed up to encourage them to go to the feeders but that hasn't seemed to help either.
Mudslinger........I need to see the LDP's on the droptine. I hunted around Jayton for a few years. the biggest whitetail I've ever seen on the hoof was over there. Some fine deer over there for sure.

I've noticed that on our Crosby place the only pics of good bucks we have going to feeders during daylight are during the cold fronts. Just about all others have been at night. However, it seems to be like clockwork that when it's cold they hear those dinner and breakfast bells. There is a lot of hunting pressure at that lease.
