    Rut in Fort Bend County

Are you guys seeing much rutting activity? I am thinking it will be a bit later this year. Here a good article breaking down when the Southern rut may occur.

South portion of Fort Bend had its rut start in late September....The rut is typically over and done with before rifle season starts.

Where in the world can you hunt in Fort Bend County? I've lived here for 20 something years and haven't noticed anything. Sure would be a short drive for me.

there's lots of good hunting out by Brazos Bend State Park, headed towards East Bernard along the River, not sure about quality but I see deer from the road on 723 headed into Rosenberg on a regular basis. I've seen deer chasing to the right of highway 90 headed towards the Grand Parkway, one of the biggest bucks I've seen on the hoof I almost hit with my truck on the Grand Parkway by Long Meadow Farms, etc.

Unfortunately, Most of the good hunting is on land that has been in families for generations. There is also a hunting club outside Damon, but I've heard there are a couple hundred people on the wait list, it's kind of like Steelers or Packers season tickets, spots just get passed on to the next generation and rarely does somebody get off. There are some really good deer along the river in Ft. Bend County.

I've been working an outage out at the powerplant in Thompsons for the last few weeks. I was seeing bucks running the does hard out there the last two weeks but things have slowed down this week. Looks like it is wrapping up.

It's my 4th season on a place in that area and the rut is typically over by the start of rifle season. Bow hunting is a must to hunt the Southeast TX coastal regions. There also sometimes is a short period when bucks seem to chase a little late in the season, around mid-December.

The first 2 weeks of October are usually the time to be hunting around here.
