Where can I donate hog meat in Mexia area???

I have some buddies coming from out of state in two weekends from now. They are coming to hog hunt but can't take the meat back with em. I'd be happy to clean/quarter the hog they kill if someone knew of a family or church in the area that would take the meat!!! I tried hunters for the hungry but they wont take pork?!
So anyone know of a church, needy family or just ANYONE that would like to take the meat? I'd do all the work and deliver within a reasonable distance of Groesbeck TX.
    THANKS

If you take the meat to most any processing plant and "donate it" they will have poeple/places to give it to. Most of them have "deals" with churches or other groups.

Tiger Creek Wildlife Refuge: Discover our mission to rescue and rehabilitate animals in need. Learn about our exotic animal rescue, support our conservation efforts, and visit our sanctuary. Join us in protecting these magnificent creatures.

Is Tyler too far? If not, Tiger Creek Wildlife Refuge is a place you might consider. TC is a big cat refuge, mostly tigers but also lions, jaguars, and leopards (oh my!). They are located just across the road from Tyler State Park. The director of operations is Terri Werner. Contact info: Tiger Creek Wildlife Refuge, 17552 FM 14, (Exit 562) Tyler, Texas 75706, (903) 858-1008, admin@tiger creek.org

They do great work. TCWR provides rescue and rehabilitation of big cats that have been abused, neglected, or displaced. Tiger Creek caters to animals in a lovely environment in which the cats can live the remainder of their lives without threat in a stress-free fashion. They care for big cats that are removed from individuals who tried to keep them as "pets", circus cats, some ex-zoo animals, they even have a tiger that "belonged" to Michael Jackson. They do not seek animals from the wild; instead, all of the cats there have been harmed in some way by humans and can no longer survive on their own in their natural habitats. The animals there are people's responsibility, and they are extremely well cared for.

TCWR is growing all the time and can use all the help they can get. They gladly accept donations of hog or deer meat for feeding their charges. They
like it if you field dress, but it's not absolutely necessary; they are just so
happy to accept any meat they can get.

Even if you cannot make a meat donation, if you are interested, check out TCWR online or pay them a visit in person. The nice people there will take you on a tour and introduce you to the cats. They will tell you each animal's harrowing story, most of which are absolutely heartbreaking. They accept cash donations as well, just FYI.

I pay them a visit at least once a year. The cats are beautiful! There are cats from all over the country and abroad on Tiger Creek's waiting list. The facility is highly regarded among big cat experts world-wide. In fact, the refuge is involved in the Tiger Missing Link Foundation, an international group for the conservation and rescue of big cats and the education of people regarding the plight of tigers -- they are approaching dangerously low numbers, you know.

I understand that some who read this will say tigers are for hunting. I know there is a place for that just as there is a place for Tiger Creek. For those of you who have kids, visiting Tiger Creek is a fun family outing. I hear the zoo in Tyler is quite nice also; visiting both places, or including the state park, would be lots of fun.

        Thanks for considering TCWR.
