    Directional Feeder vs. Regular Feeder

Just wondering if anybody has seen a difference in the number of deer beteen the two different feeders. I know at my lease and most other people I know, the mature deer dont come to the feeders. Just wondering if tucking a directional feeder in the brush would attract more deer, since there wouldnt be an actual feeder out in the open. It would be more like hand throwing corn instead of a feeder unit.

A friend of mine uses a directional and we see some big deer at it. I have never seen a 140 plus at a tripod feeder but that may just be our area. Try one on 3 ft legs and camo it up good, I'm going to next year.

I know that a lot say that to kill a big buck that hand corning is the only way to go, but i have several friends that hunt a low fence ranch south of here that have killed a boat load of P&Y deer, all under feeders and a lot over the 140 range and a couple of 150 inchers, so I do not think it is the feeder all the time, I think it is the time that the feeder has been in that one spot for a long time. Just my opinion. the directional feeder would be worth a try if you had the place that has the brush to set it in to basically hide it, unfortunaltey i don't.

I recently swapped my spinner to one that actually slings the corn out about 15 to 20 yards, the one that was replaced mostly concentrated corn under the feeder. I have noticed more deer and less hogs in tc pics since the corn is scattered over a larger area.

true but i have killed p&y deer at feeders that were there for less than a month or so. i have killed 6 p&y since 2003 from net 127 to net 142 and all were under or at feeders. this is on a 2500 acre low fence lease that is part of a 55,000 acre low fence ranch. i do like the directional feeders and will have several out next year.

Big deer either come to feed or they don't .....our lease has most methods of feeding in place and trophy bucks have been killed on hand, directional, tripod, hanging and tailgate feeding. I do believe more deer in certain areas of a ranch may prefer one method more then another....it varies. I would try it and see what your deer prefer best.

I have a 12 volt directional that throws out to about 40yards that I think they feel more comfortable at it after it feeds but its a loud mutha and I do not believe we see better bucks at it than our tripod feeders. It is helpful in certain circumstances like getting corn away from tree lines draws and those kind of conditions.

I have a remington that has two motors on it, works real good. I do see a difference in that the pigs wont stay there and eat all the corn . They are to lazy, the deer will come in and work the area for an hour and pick up all the corn. I like mine and it is set up on a tripoid throws about 45feet and maybe 8 ft wide

We used directional feeders mounted on 20 gal barrells and mounted them up in the tree where you couldn't see them near as well. Killed more big deer off them than standard tripod feeders on same place. Also the 20 gal barrells would hold corn for 2 to 2 1/2 months since coons couldn't get the corn out of the timers.
