I am partial to stihl although they are a pain to start when it's cold until you learn the trick. The easiest starting one I have is an old poulan, but it doesn't have a kick back bar, which makes me a little nervous when cutting brush with it.

Stihl, O29, 034. Pick one. I think they are the best you can get.

I went with a Stihl Farm Boss with a 20" bar and LOVE it. No problems with anything to do with it, so far. It's a beast.

nother vote for echo been using mine for years cranks like a charm and as mentioned light. I was going to spend more (and have) but buddy that owns repair shop steered me in that direction and I havn't been sorry and I've been SORRY several times before.

but Stihl is another good 'un too.....consider those two and you'll be in good shape with either purchase...
Don't mess around and buy the "little" one (landscapers model) get the one that requires a hairy chest to operate...he he he
Just don't let the wife operate the bigger one as you may not like the after effects of said "hairy chest" operation...he he he I kid, i kid

I second the stihl PRO models. I just picked up the MS 260 Pro today, think it will be a little small for what you want to do though

I personally like the Stihl chainsaw over the echo. I seem to burn through Echo chainsaws in 2 or 3 years and the Stihl's last me twice as long. I like the 290c as it's inexpensive, but a bit heavier than some of the other ones.

I just bought a Stihl MS 250 C-BE. Runs great! Easiest saw I have ever tried to start. I would highly recommend it.

                              Sir

Stihl and Echo are pretty much even. Echo parts are a little more available than Stihl - and both do not break often.

I run a 14 inch stihl with a 10 inch blade. It is a monster...
