Some of you may have seen the post Wes (luck-of-the-draw) put up on the deer I popped as a guest on his place this weekend. I was invited (again, thank you Wes) to hunt his place in Nocona Texas. Its a long drive but one I will gladly make anytime it is offered. I shoot a great 9pt two years ago there. Anyways I was up in a tree he had been hunting pretty heavily but choose to move off to another stand with the opener of gun season. I also took a gun to the bow stand with me. A pistol that I'm good with and can shoot further than I will with a bow. I have always wanted a good deer with it. I have shot two culls and a pig with it. The bow was the primary choice and was in my hand when this dude came through while harassing two doe. He never stopped moving and was way back in the brush when I finally stopped him with a grunt call. The two girls moved off about 80 yards and he was moving out of the woods to join up with them. He came out into the clear at 47yards and I stopped him again with a grunt. I put the bow away and used the pistol because I doubted he was going to leave them and come any closer to me and he was outside my comfort zone with the bow. My first shot was a miss. He froze! I had to remember that I needed to shoot low with it beyond 25yds. The second shot drilled him, and caught the heart. He did the high kick and went down 80yds away in sight. I was (am) pumped. Two great dear this year for me. One with the bow opening weekend and not this one on the gun opener.

Kathunt, It is a double stack STI. It is modeled after the 1911. Has all of the same features of one with the addition of a modular frame to hold a double stack mag.Comment
